St. Petersburg Distance Classic
The St. Petersburg Distance Classic stages multiple road races on a flat, scenic route along Tampa Bay and through historic neighborhoods of St. Petersburg, Florida. The event offers in person and virtual options and includes race distances for a range of participants.
- Marathon (USATF certified, Boston qualifier FL19019TY)
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
- Virtual options for all distances
All four courses share the same first two miles as they head north into Snell Isle. The 10K follows the half marathon course until a turnaround point, while the 5K turns and returns toward the finish. The half and full courses pass Coffee Pot Bayou and Central Avenue, then split at about mile 10 at the shaded Pinellas Trail. Musicians perform on course and spectators line parts of the route.
Beast Pacing provides pacers for the marathon and half marathon; pacers are assigned conservatively and are required to finish within one minute of their target time. The race start and finish are located at North Shore Park in downtown St. Petersburg. Packet pickup is available on multiple days before race day and there is no race morning registration. A post race tropical party includes hot food, cold beer, a breakfast bar, live music, and an awards ceremony. Typical February temperatures cited range from 56°F to 71°F.
