St. Petersburg Distance Classic
The St. Petersburg Distance Classic is a multi-distance running event held at North Shore Park in Saint Petersburg, Florida, along Tampa Bay. The event offers in-person and virtual options and includes support features such as pacers and musical entertainment along the courses.
Distances offered:
- Marathon (26.2 miles, USATF certified, Boston qualifier)
- Halfathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K (6.2 miles)
- 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles)
- Virtual options for marathon, half, 10K, and 5K
All four on-site courses share the same first two miles, heading north into Snell Isle. 5K participants turn and return toward the finish while longer distances continue north around Coffee Pot Bayou and return to North Shore Park. The halfathon and marathon proceed south along the waterfront, pass through downtown and Central Avenue where large murals are visible, then split at Mile 10 at the Pinellas Trail. Halfathon participants head east back to the waterfront; marathon participants head west to complete the marathon distance before returning to the waterfront finish.
The marathon course is certified under USATF standards (FL19019TY). The local area description notes beaches, an arts community, and craft breweries, and typical February temperatures are listed as about 56° to 71°. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
