St. Petersburg Distance Classic
The St. Petersburg Distance Classic is a scenic running event held in St. Petersburg, Florida. The event takes place along the waterfront of Tampa Bay and passes through historic neighborhoods, artistic districts, and shaded trails. The courses are characterized as flat and fast, with musicians stationed along the route to provide entertainment for participants.
The event features several race distances to accommodate different preferences:
- Marathon (USATF-certified, Boston Qualifier)
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
- Virtual Race options for all distances
All courses begin by heading north into the historic Snell Isle area. The 5K participants turn back toward the finish early, while other distances continue around the waterfront of Coffee Pot Bayou. The Half Marathon and Marathon routes extend south through downtown and along Central Avenue, an area known for its local cafes and over 600 murals. At the ten-mile mark, these two courses split at the Pinellas Trail; the Half Marathon returns to the waterfront, while the Marathon continues west to complete the full distance before heading to the finish line.
Pacing services are provided for the Marathon and Half Marathon distances to assist runners in meeting specific time goals. The start and finish lines are located at North Shore Park.
