Tampa YMCA Turkey Gobble 5K & 1 Mile
The Tampa YMCA Turkey Gobble is a Thanksgiving morning out and back running event held on Thursday, November 26 at Benchmark International Arena, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa, FL 33602. The event offers in-person and virtual participation and is organized around short-distance race options suitable for family participation.
Distances include:
- 5K run/walk
- 1 Mile fun run
- Virtual 5K option
There is no race day registration or packet pickup. All race packets must be collected during pre-race packet pickup hours offered through Dick's House of Sports; two pickup locations will be provided. Registered participants receive a commemorative dri-fit shirt and a finisher's medal. Children who remain in strollers on the course do not need to be registered but must stay in the stroller and will not receive a race shirt or medal. Children who wish to leave the stroller and participate on course should be registered. Strollers should line up at the back. Limited dogs are allowed and must be registered. Note that ladies shirts run small and participants are advised to size up one or two sizes.
The event covers 100% of the cost of the Kids Thrivers Club, a free 12-week youth cancer survivor program that includes physical and social activities and provides YMCA membership for participants and their household family members. It also covers the Pedaling for Parkinson's program and supports other YMCA health programs including the Diabetes Prevention Program, Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program, Healthy Steps for Older Adults, and Enhance Fitness.
