2026 St. Patrick's 5k, Half & Marathon
Bishop's Events stages three distances along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path with separate start and finish locations in Georgetown and at Fletcher's Boathouse. The courses use a light gravel canal towpath with minimal elevation change. Walkers are welcome. A virtual race option is available.
Distances:
- 5k, out-and-back on C&O Canal path, flat light-gravel trail
- Half marathon, out-and-back on C&O Canal starting and ending in Georgetown
- Full marathon, two out-and-backs, Boston-qualifying with six-hour time limit
Runners receive a finisher's medal, a technical Dri-FIT event shirt (guaranteed for registrations before March 4), and chip timing. Live results are posted on Athlinks and a QR code will be available at the race; final results with series points are posted after the event. The event awards the top three men and women overall and awards for age categories 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Top three overall finishers are not eligible for age-group awards.
Support and logistics include water stations (marathon: 14 stations at specified mile markers; half: 7 stations; 5k: one station), some Gatorade at selected stations, porta-johns near the half/marathon start area, and facility restrooms at the 5k start. There is no official bag check; items may be left at the timing tent but are left at the owner's risk. Packet pickup is available at Road Runner Sports in Arlington and also at the event.
