St. Patrick's Half & Full Marathon
The event offers two road race distances in Georgetown, Washington, DC, with courses that run along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path. The half follows the C&O Canal on a light gravel dirt road with minimal elevation change in an out-and-back format. The full marathon consists of two out-and-backs along the same canal path.
Distances:
- Full marathon Boston-qualifying, six hour limit, two out-and-backs along C&O Canal path
- Half marathon light gravel C&O Canal out-and-back with minimal elevation change
Points from the races count toward the Year-Long Endurance and Back of the Pack Series and toward the Winter Series. A virtual race option is available for participants who cannot attend in person. Walkers are welcome.
Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (Dri-Fit) event shirt, and chip timing. Live results are posted online during the event and final results with series points are published after the race. The organizer provides water stations: 14 stations along the marathon at specified mile markers and 7 stations on the half at approximate mile markers; Gatorade is available at some stations.
Packet pickup is available at the event; there is no on-site race registration. There is no official bag check, though items may be left at the timing table at the owner’s risk. The event awards top overall finishers and age-group places. Photos taken by staff are posted after the event. The organizer does not allow unregistered participants and may remove or disqualify violators. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
