Phoenix: South Wales - NOT The London Marathon
This running event takes place in Cardiff Bay on Sunday, 26 April 2026. The start and finish location is at the Norwegian Church Arts Centre on Harbour Drive.
It is a timed event with a flexible format. Participants can choose their own distance by completing laps of a measured 5.3 km (3.28 mile) out-and-back course along Cardiff Bay. The minimum distance is one lap (3.28 miles), and the maximum distance is limited only by what can be completed within the 7-hour overall time limit.
The course is primarily on tarmac or pavement, with one short section on a wooden boardwalk. It starts at the Norwegian Church, passes landmarks such as the Senedd, Pierhead Building, Roald Dahl Plass, and the Wales Millennium Centre, and has a turnaround point at the Torchwood Tower. The route is described as fairly flat, with an elevation gain/loss of 23 meters per lap. The event holds a UKACM certificate of course accuracy and is licensed by Welsh Athletics.
Registration fees start from £20 for a 'no medal' entry option, which includes support and digital resources. Standard entry fees are £33 (affiliated) or £35 (unaffiliated). All finishers receive a bespoke medal unless the 'no medal' option is chosen. The event uses a flexible 'rock up and run' start system, and special start time requests may be accommodated.
