Event overview
The Sirhowy Challenge is a 10-mile multi-terrain race held on 17 May 2026. The course climbs about 1500 ft to Machen Trig Point and follows a loop of the Sirhowy valley and surrounding area. The route is described as undulating and the distance is approximate. The event has a Welsh Athletics race licence applied for under UKA rules. All finishers receive a drinks token. Participants must be 17 or older on race day.
Entry and logistics
Entry fees are £14.00 for UK Athletics registered runners and £16.00 for non-affiliated runners; a service fee of 4% (minimum 50p) applies. Entries close on 16 May 2026 and there are 200 places available. Once entered there are no cancellations or deferrals; transfers to another runner are possible via the Entry Central account before 16 May 2026. Race headquarters is at the Ynysddu Hotel, a short walk to the start. The awards ceremony and toilet facilities are at The Progressive Club, Ynysddu. Race numbers are collected at the registration desk on race day. Organisers request a predicted race time on registration. Only bone-conducting headphones are permitted.
