Event Overview
The Sirhowy Challenge is a multi-terrain race located in the Sirhowy valley and the surrounding area. The event consists of a single loop course covering an approximate distance of 10 miles. Participants follow a route that includes 1,500 feet of elevation gain, reaching the Machen Trig Point during the run.
The course features undulating terrain and is unsuitable for wheelchair athletes. Participation is open to runners aged 17 and older on race day. Registration requires a predicted race time to assist with the placement and timing of event volunteers.
Logistics and Facilities
Race headquarters is situated at the Ynysddu Hotel, which is located a short distance from the start line. Registration takes place at this location, where participants can collect their race numbers. Toilet facilities are provided at the Progressive Club in Ynysddu.
The event is regulated under UK Athletics rules, and a Welsh Athletics Race Licence is requested. The use of headphones is restricted; only bone conducting headphones are permitted during the race. Total entry is limited to 200 participants.
Recognition and Awards
All finishers are provided with a drinks token upon completion of the course. An awards ceremony follows the event at the Progressive Club. Prizes are designated for the following categories: Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
