AM Caravans Castle 5K Race 5
The event is a measured 5 km race held at The Sheepmount in Carlisle. The course uses a mixture of park paths, pavements and quiet roads and is described as mainly flat with generally good road surfaces. The route includes a loop of Bitts Park, passages by Carlisle Castle with two laps around the castle area, and returns to finish close to the small grandstand at the Sheepmount Stadium.
Marshals will be positioned on the course and caution is advised at all turns. A full course risk assessment will be on display at the event HQ on race day together with route maps, the race permit and the measurement certificate in accordance with UKA rules.
Prizes are awarded for overall male and female positions 1st to 3rd, and for age groups. Age group prizes are paid by BACS within seven days and are awarded based on category size: 1 to 17 competitors receive 1st place only, 18 to 27 receive 1st and 2nd, and 28 or more receive 1st to 3rd. If an age-group athlete places in the overall top three, the age-group prize rolls down to the next eligible athlete.
