Event overview
The Sheepmount Carlisle 5 km race takes place on Wednesday 9 September 2026 in Carlisle, Great Britain. Race numbers are issued at race registration. Registration closes on 7 September 2026. Results will be available approximately ten minutes after the race on the timing provider's results service.
Course and safety
The course is an officially measured 5 km route using a mixture of park paths, pavements and quiet roads. Surfaces are generally good and the route is mainly flat. The route includes a loop of Bitts Park, a section past Carlisle Castle with two laps around the castle area, and a return to Sheepmount Stadium with the finish near the small grandstand. Runners are asked to follow the race director’s instructions, take care at turns and be aware of cars and cyclists. A full course risk assessment, route maps, the race permit and the measurement certificate will be on display at event headquarters on race day. A race safety briefing will take place before the race.
Prizes, results and entry
Overall prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female. Age-group prizes are awarded by category size: 1 to 17 competitors - 1st only; 18 to 27 - 1st and 2nd; 28 or more - 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Age-group prize payments are made by bank transfer within seven days. If an age-group athlete wins an overall prize, the age-group prize rolls down. Withdrawals up to one month before the race incur a 50% charge; no refunds after that date. Entry fees start from £10 for juniors, with higher rates for adult categories, plus additional transaction fees. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
