Great Cumbrian Run 2026
The Great Cumbrian Run takes place on Sunday 4 October 2026 at The Sheepmount in Carlisle. The event offers road running distances for individuals and families, and it is managed by Better and Sport in Action.
Distances on offer include:
- 13.1 Miles half marathon
- 10 km
- 3.1 Miles 5K
- 1.1 Miles Family Fun Run, accessible to all ages and timed for 2026
Registration closes on 1 October 2026 at 23:59. Race numbers will be posted to entrants who entered up to 20 September; entrants from 21 September can collect numbers at on site registration on 2 October (17:00 to 19:00), 3 October (13:00 to 15:30) and 4 October (07:30 to 08:45).
Better is described as a social enterprise that operates leisure centres and reinvests profits into facilities and the local community. Sport in Action organises running events in and around Carlisle and manages event operations.
The event lists local charity partners including Eden Valley Hospice, Every Life Matters, Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland, and ICAAN. A family fun run is presented as a relaxed, inclusive activity for parents, children and groups, and can be used to raise funds for local causes.
