The Sport In Action Castle 5K Race 4 takes place at The Sheepmount, Carlisle on 12 August 2026. The event is a measured 5 km race and is listed as the fourth race in the Castle 5K series. Registration closes on 10 August 2026. Entry options and prices listed are: affiliated entry £14.00 plus a fee (£0.50 + 5%), unaffiliated entry £16.00 plus the same fee, and combined entry for the final two races priced at £24.00 (affiliated) or £28.00 (unaffiliated) plus the fee.
Course, safety and prizes
The course uses a mixture of park paths, pavements and quiet roads that are mainly flat with generally good surfaces. The route begins with a loop of Bitts Park, passes Carlisle Castle where runners complete two laps, then returns to Sheepmount Stadium with the finish near the small grandstand. A full course risk assessment, route maps, the race permit and the measurement certificate will be on display at event HQ on race day in accordance with UKA rules (permit number TBA). Marshals will be on the route and runners are asked to take care at turns.
Prizes are awarded overall for 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female. Age-group prizes are paid by BACS within seven days and are allocated depending on the number of competitors in each age group.
