Blencathra Marathon
The Blencathra Marathon is a fell running event held on Sunday 6th September 2026. The route covers 26.4 miles with 5875 ft of ascent and visits five Wainwright summits: Bowscale Fell, Blencathra, Mungrisdale Common, Knott, and High Pike. The course is circular and starts and finishes at Caldbeck Parish Hall, CA7 8EU.
The route is fully tracked on OpenTracking and a GPX file is available subject to minor route changes. There are two checkpoints on the course; water is available at checkpoints, snacks are provided at the first checkpoint and at the finish, and hot drinks are offered at the end. First aid and event insurance are provided. Support runners are permitted but must be self-sufficient. Spectators are restricted at checkpoints due to parking limitations; locations where supporters may see participants are included in the race pack issued before the event.
Entry is open to people aged 18 and over. Standard entry and affiliated entry fees cover a finishers medal, a t shirt, water checkpoints, snacks, and GPS tracking. Trophies are awarded to first, second and third in male, female, and non binary categories. Bookings may be transferred up to four weeks before the event, entries may be deferred once, and no refunds are offered. There is an option to plant a tree instead of receiving a t shirt.
