Event overview

The Blencathra Marathon is a fell trail event held on Sunday 6 September 2026, starting and finishing at Caldbeck Parish Hall (CA7 8EU). The route is a circular mountain marathon of about 26.4 miles with approximately 5875 ft of ascent. It includes summits of five Wainwrights: Bowscale Fell, Blencathra, Mungrisdale Common, Knott, and High Pike. The event is fully tracked using GPS/Open Tracking and a GPX route is available, subject to minor changes before the event.

Practical information

The event allows 12 hours to complete the course. Entry is open to participants aged 18 or older. Entry fees listed are £60 (standard) and £58 (affiliated). The fee includes a finisher medal, a t-shirt, water at checkpoints, snacks and hot drinks at the finish, and GPS tracking. There are two checkpoints along the route; water will be available at both and snacks at the first checkpoint and at the finish. Parking is available in the village. First aid will be available on the day. Support runners are permitted but must be self-sufficient. Bookings may be transferred to another runner up to four weeks before the event; refunds are not offered, and optional event protection (XCover) is available.
