CBTE Blencathra Marathon

The Blencathra Marathon is a circular trail and fell event that starts and finishes at the Caldbeck Parish Hall. The route covers a distance of 26.4 miles and features an elevation gain of just under 6000ft. The course is fully tracked and is intended for experienced fell runners, trail runners, and walkers.

The route traverses five Wainwright Summits within the Lake District. Participants will visit the following peaks:

  • Bowscale
  • Blencathra
  • Mungrisdale Common
  • Knott
  • High Pike

After reaching these summits, the course returns to the village of Caldbeck. The event has a total cut-off time of 12 hours. Mandatory registration takes place on the morning of the event at the parish hall.

The entry fee for the marathon includes a finishers medal, a t-shirt, and access to two water checkpoints along the course. Participants are also provided with snacks and hot drinks upon completing the route. Trophies are awarded to the first, second, and third place finishers in the male, female, and non-binary categories.
