Event overview
The Blencathra Marathon is a fell and trail marathon held on Sunday 6 September 2026. The route is approximately 26.4 miles with 5875 ft of ascent and is described as taking place on mountain terrain. The event starts and finishes at Caldbeck Parish Hall (CA7 8EU). It is open to participants aged 18 or older and has a 12-hour cut-off time. The race holds a permit (ARC/25/0036) and is fully GPS tracked.
Route and support
The course is a circular route from Caldbeck that includes five Wainwright summits: Bowscale Fell, Blencathra, Mungrisdale Common, Knott, and High Pike. There are two checkpoints on the route where water is available; snacks are provided at the first checkpoint and hot drinks are provided at the finish. The entry fee includes a finishers medal, a t-shirt, GPS tracking, and refreshments at the end. Trophies are awarded for first, second and third in male, female, and non-binary categories.
