Event overview
The Blencathra Marathon takes place on Sunday 6 September 2026, with start and finish at Caldbeck Parish Hall (CA7 8EU). The race is a circular fell and trail event of approximately 26.4 miles with about 5,875 ft of ascent. It is described as suitable for experienced fell and trail runners and for fell walkers. The course is fully GPS tracked and the event allows a 12-hour cut-off for completion. Entry is open to participants aged 18 and over. Parking is available in the village.
Route and services
The route includes five Wainwright summits: Bowscale Fell, Blencathra, Mungrisdale Common, Knott and High Pike, before returning to Caldbeck. There are two checkpoints with water; snacks are provided at the first checkpoint and hot drinks and snacks are available at the finish. The entry fee includes a finishers medal and a t-shirt, and trophies are awarded to the first three finishers in male, female and non-binary categories. First aid and event insurance are provided. Support runners are permitted but must be self-sufficient. Spectators will not be allowed at checkpoints due to parking restrictions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
