Event Overview
The Blencathra Marathon is a fell marathon event described as suitable for experienced fell and trail runners, as well as fell walkers. The course is 26.4 miles in length with an elevation gain of 5875 ft.
The Route
The route is a circular marathon starting and finishing in Caldbeck. It takes in five Wainwright summits: Bowscale Fell, Blencathra, Mungrisdale Common, Knott, and High Pike.
Event Information
The event date is Sunday, 6th September 2026. The start and finish location is Caldbeck Parish Hall, CA7 8EU. Parking is available in the village.
The entry fee includes a finisher's medal, a t-shirt, water checkpoints, snacks, hot drinks at the finish, and GPS tracking. Participants have the option to choose planting a tree instead of receiving a finisher's t-shirt. Trophies are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in male, female, and non-binary categories.
Practical Details
There is a 12-hour cutoff time to complete the course. There will be two checkpoints along the route providing water and snacks. A kit list is required and available for download.
