Event

The Blencathra Marathon takes place on Sunday 6 September 2026 and starts and finishes at Caldbeck Parish Hall (CA7 8EU). The event uses a 26.4-mile circular fell and trail route with just under 6,000 ft of ascent. It is open to participants aged 18 or older and is described as suitable for experienced fell and trail runners and fell walkers. Entry fees are £60 (standard) or £58 (affiliated). Registration and cut-off arrangements allow a 12-hour completion window. Parking is available in the village.

Route and logistics

The route visits five Wainwright summits: Bowscale, Blencathra, Mungrisdale Common, Knott and High Pike, before returning to Caldbeck. The event is fully GPS tracked on Open Tracking and a GPX route is provided, subject to minor changes. There are two water checkpoints, snacks at the first checkpoint, and hot drinks and snacks at the finish. The entry fee includes a finishers medal and a t-shirt. Trophies are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in male, female and non-binary categories. First aid is available on the day. Support runners are permitted but must be self-sufficient.
