The measured 5 km route uses a mixture of park paths, pavements and quiet roads and is described as mainly flat with generally good road surfaces. The course begins with a loop of Bitts Park, passes Carlisle Castle where runners complete two laps, and returns to Sheepmount Stadium with the finish close to the small grandstand. Caution is advised at turns and participants are asked to follow instructions from marshals.
Event paperwork including a full course risk assessment, route maps, the race permit and the measurement certificate will be on display at event headquarters in line with UKA rules. A race safety briefing and a prize presentation after the third finisher are included in the event schedule.
Prizes are awarded for overall 1st to 3rd male and female. Age group prizes follow a tiered structure based on the number of competitors, with roll down to the next eligible athlete if an age grouper places in the overall prizes. The published withdrawal policy states a 50% charge for cancellations made one month before the event and no refunds after that date. Results are published shortly after the race.
