Event overview
The Splash of Color 5K is a community run/walk held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Garvin Park in Evansville, IN. The event includes two distances:
- 5K Run & Walk
- 1-Mile Family Walk
Proceeds support St. Vincent Early Learning Center and its early childhood education and nature exploration programs. The event features a color element in which participants may be splashed with non-toxic, biodegradable color dust; participants can avoid most color by staying to one side of the course. The color dust is intended to have low environmental impact, and leaf blowers will be used after the event to reduce tracking.
Logistics and course
Registration fees vary by date and are non-refundable and non-transferable. All 5K registrants receive a short-sleeved t-shirt; 5K registrations completed by May 27, 2026, are guaranteed a shirt. 1-Mile registrants may purchase shirts before the posted cutoff; shirts and sizes are not guaranteed afterward. Bib and shirt pickup is available at St. Vincent Early Learning Center on the day before the race and at Garvin Park on event morning.
The course starts on Bob Griese Pass, follows Reis Ave around the lake toward Pigeon Creek, crosses Richardt Ave onto the Pigeon Creek Greenway, continues north under Highway 66, proceeds to a turnaround near Stringtown Road, and returns to Garvin Park. The race will be officially timed and results posted online.
Rules and awards
Walking is permitted for the 5K if participants maintain a pace to finish within one hour. Strollers are allowed in the 5K Walk and the 1-Mile Family Walk. Pets and wheeled items such as skates, skateboards, and scooters are not allowed in the races. Awards will be given to the top two male and female 5K finishers in each age bracket (8-12, 13-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-99), plus overall male and female awards. A fun award is planned for participants ages 0-7 in the 1-Mile Family Walk while supplies last. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
