About the race
Sock It To Me Santa 5k is a holiday-themed running event in Asheville, NC, scheduled for December 12, 2026. The event raises funds for the Asheville City Schools band programs and features a chip timed 5K that runs through downtown Asheville, including the South Slope and River Arts District areas.
The event offers two distances:
- 5K includes a long sleeved tech shirt, custom race bib, chip timing, and a finisher medal.
- Kids Snowflake Chaser one loop on the track; includes race bib and finisher medal and has a separate low entry fee.
Packet pick up is available the day before at Devils Foot Brewing’s The Mule and at Asheville Middle School on race day. There is no race day registration and online registration is open until midnight on December 11 or until the event sells out. Registration opens July 1 and tiered pricing applies through November; a reduced early bird rate is offered July 1 to August 31.
Awards are given to top finishers overall by gender and nonbinary category, Masters and Grand Masters, and top finishers in standard age groups. Costume awards are planned and all 5K runners receive finisher medals. For safety and insurance reasons animals are not allowed on course except approved service animals with documentation. The event has a no refund policy; transfers to a virtual entry or another runner are allowed up to five days before the event. In case of inclement weather the race may be postponed to January 9, 2027. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
