South Asheville Turkey Trot 5K
The South Asheville Turkey Trot is an annual Thanksgiving morning 5K set in Biltmore Park Town Square and the surrounding neighborhood in Asheville, North Carolina. The course starts and ends in Biltmore Park Town Square and runs through quiet residential streets with cheering spectators and very little vehicle traffic. There are a few moderate hills along the route.
The event offers a chip-timed 5K on a USATF certified, fully marked course. Participants receive a race shirt (price listed as $25 after November 1) and a custom commemorative finisher medal that features a spinning turkey centerpiece. Awards are given to overall and top finishers in each age group, and prizes are presented for the most creative costumes.
Additional features noted for the event include discounted pricing for children 12 and under, a virtual participation option with mailed swag, and stroller-friendly accommodations for participants starting toward the back of the pack. Dogs are allowed as spectators but are not permitted to participate in the race. The race is presented by Hunter Subaru and is identified as the only running event permitted in this Biltmore Park neighborhood. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
