South Asheville Turkey Trot 5K
The South Asheville Turkey Trot is an annual Thanksgiving tradition held in Biltmore Park, Asheville, NC. The event features a 5K (3.1 miles) course that starts and ends in Biltmore Park Town Square and proceeds through neighboring residential streets where spectators often cheer participants. The route is described as scenic with a few moderate hills and generally low vehicle traffic, making it family-friendly and stroller accessible.
The race is USATF certified and uses chip timing. Participants receive a race shirt and a custom commemorative finisher medal that includes a spinning turkey feature. Awards are given to overall top finishers and top finishers in each age group, and prizes are offered for creative costumes. Discounted pricing is available for children 12 and under. A virtual option allows runners and walkers to participate remotely; virtual participants receive race swag by mail when offered.
