Event Overview

The Black Mountain Turkey Trot takes place on Thanksgiving morning, November 26, 2026. It is the event's second annual edition. The event offers three different activities: a Turkey Trot 5k, a Wishbone 1 Miler, and a Virtual 5k with no live participation.

Location

The event is based in Black Mountain, North Carolina, approximately 20 minutes from downtown Asheville. The race day location is the Town Square at 102 E State St. Packet pick-up is also available the day before at Pisgah Brewing Company.

Activities

  • Turkey Trot 5k: This is a chip-timed road race. The course goes through Black Mountain's historic downtown and surrounding neighborhoods, passing by Lake Tomahawk.
  • Wishbone 1 Miler: This is an untimed fun run. It is open to all ages, and participants can use strollers or bring leashed dogs.
  • Virtual 5k: This is a non-live participation option.

Community & Details

A portion of the registration fees from the 5k supports Bounty & Soul, a local organization addressing food insecurity. Participants in the live events receive a long-sleeve tech shirt and a wooden finisher medal. Awards are given for the fastest runners and for costumes.
