About the race
The Black Mountain Turkey Trot takes place on November 26, 2026, in Black Mountain, Buncombe County, North Carolina, centered at 102 E State St. The event offers in-person and virtual options and directs a portion of registration fees to local nonprofit organizations.
In-person events include a chip-timed 5K that is open to runners and walkers, and a separate untimed 1 mile fun run designed for families. The 1 mile route welcomes strollers and leashed dogs. A virtual 5K option is also offered with no live participation.
Supported nonprofit partners named by the organizer include Bounty & Soul, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, Irene Wortham Center, and the INTO LIGHT Project. Brief descriptions of their work are provided by the organizer: Bounty & Soul addresses food insecurity and promotes wellness; Brother Wolf Animal Rescue focuses on animal rescue and care; Irene Wortham Center provides residential and day services for people with developmental and socio-economic challenges; and the INTO LIGHT Project presents exhibitions about lives lost to drug addiction.
The event is produced and owned by Kick It Event Management, a local Western North Carolina small business.
