5K Celebration: Confidence through Accomplishment
This event is a seasonal closing 5K celebration for Girls on the Run Western North Carolina. It takes place on Sunday, November 22, 2026, at Tanger Asheville, 800 Brevard Road, Asheville NC 28806. The event is intended as a closing celebration for program participants of all abilities and provides a tangible sense of accomplishment.
The course is a 5K (3.1 miles). The event is presented as a non-competitive, celebratory occasion where participants are encouraged to walk, run, roll, push or skip at their own pace. Every registered participant receives an event t-shirt. Girls enrolled in the GOTR program receive a commemorative race medal.
Registration pricing for non-program participants is tiered: Early Bird $35, General $40, and Day-Of $45; prices increase for non-program participants three weeks before the event. Program participants and coaches are registered through the council and do not need to register separately. There is an early packet pick up option for community runners and running buddies at Tanger Asheville Food Court on Saturday, May 2 (time to be announced); program participants receive 5K gear through their coaches and do not have an early packet pick up option.
Event logistics note free onsite parking, a required race bib for each participant, a running buddy system, and accessibility features so participants can complete the course safely. Volunteer roles include course marshals, running buddies (background check required for buddies), water stations, cheer stations, bib decorating and activity areas. The event will be cancelled only in cases of thunder and lightning, unsafe driving conditions or other hazardous conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
