Sneakers on the Ground 5K: Shreveport, LA
Sneakers on the Ground is a community running event held on May 30, 2026, at Bill Cockrell Park, 4109 Pines Road, Shreveport, LA 71119. The event includes a timed 5K, a kids 1/2 mile fun run, and a non-competitive supporter registration option.
Distances offered:
- 3.1 Miles 5K timed run/walk
- 1/2 Mile Fun Run for children
- Sofa Supporter option with or without a shirt
Registration opens March 31, 2026. Fee structure in effect for the event: Early bird registration is $20 through April 22; regular registration is $25 from April 23 through May 29; race day registration is $30. The kids 1/2 mile fun run fee is $10. Sofa Supporter registration is $25 including a shirt or $20 without a shirt; declining a shirt reduces the fee by $5.
Packet pick-up is scheduled at Sportspectrum on May 28 and May 29. Packets are also available at the race site on race day. Registrants may choose either a short sleeve tee or a towel; shirts and towels are not guaranteed for registrants who sign up after May 15.
Awards are given to overall male and female winners in the 5K, and 1st and 2nd place in each adult age group. Age groups include 10-under, 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 plus. The kids 1/2 mile fun run awards the top three finishers.
Strollers, wagons, baby joggers, and hand-pushed or pulled vehicles are allowed on course only at walking pace; in-line skates and roller skates are prohibited. An after-party with refreshments, awards, and a community appreciation cookout follows the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
