Sharp's Ridge Rambler

The Sharp's Ridge Rambler is a trail running event held in Knoxville, Tennessee. The race starts and finishes at the Dr. Paul L. Kelley Volunteer Academy, located at 535 Chickamauga Avenue. The event offers multiple distances on wooded trails:

  • 7 Miles
  • 4 Miles
  • 1 Mile (Kids Trail Race)

The 4 Mile and 7 Mile courses begin with a short transition on a paved road before entering the park trails. The terrain consists of moderately technical paths that include gradual climbs and descents along Sharp's Ridge. Specific trail segments include Hanover Street, Lincoln, Sharp Shin, Push Line, and Firebreak. The 1 Mile kids race takes place entirely on hilly trail terrain, with its start and finish located at the base of the trailhead.

The event maintains a minimum pace requirement of 18 minutes per mile. Runners participating in the adult distances who are under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Participants are encouraged to carry their own water to support environmental efforts, although aid stations with small cups are provided. For safety reasons, the use of headsets, earphones, bicycles, strollers, or pets is not permitted on the course.

Staging and registration take place at the academy. Participants receive a limited edition series T-shirt, with a policy of one shirt per runner per season. Results for all distances are recorded and published online following the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
