Hardin Valley Hawk Trot 5K

The Hardin Valley Hawk Trot 5K is an annual running event held on Thanksgiving morning in Knoxville, Tennessee. The event serves as a local holiday tradition for the community, including residents and alumni. Participants follow a route that begins at Hardin Valley Academy and traverses the roads connecting the local high school, middle school, and elementary school. The course features a mix of flat sections and light rolling hills primarily through campus parking lots and connecting roads.

The event offers two distinct distances:

  • 5 km
  • 1 mile (Junior Hawk Mile)

The 5 km race concludes with a finish on the track inside the football stadium. The 1 mile run is specifically designated for children under 10 years old and is limited to 100 participants. Children completing the mile run receive a finisher medal and a festive participation gift. For the 5K event, awards are presented to the top three overall finishers by gender, the top master runners over age 40, and the top three finishers in 10-year age increments.

On-site amenities include restrooms located near the start and finish areas within the stadium and academic buildings. A water station is positioned at the halfway point of the 5K course. Attendees are requested to use the parking area in front of the high school to keep the course clear. Packet pickup is conducted on the morning of the event at the football and track complex. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
