Event overview

The 52nd ANNUAL Sgt. Preston Yukon King Run is scheduled for January 1, 2026 in Muskegon, Michigan at 462 N Scenic Dr., 49445. The event began in 1974 and is one of Michigan's long-running road races. It offers two race options:

  • 5K Run/Walk
  • 6 Mile Run

The 5K course is described as very flat. The 6 mile course begins flat and then transitions to hills that wind through Muskegon State Park. Awards are presented to the top finishers of each age group in a heated tent after the race. Proceeds benefit the North Muskegon Athletic Booster Club, which supports student athletes at North Muskegon High School. Results are posted online at RunSignUp and RunnersEdgeRaceTiming.

Registration and packet pick-up

Early registration on or before December 1 includes a long sleeve race shirt. Individual registration listed at $35; late registration begins after December 30 at $45 per runner. Registration after December 1 does not receive a race shirt due to printing deadlines.

  • Race day pickup: January 1, 9:30 am - 10:30 am at the Muskegon Luge Adventure Park main building.
