About the race
The Muskegon Turkey Trot is a community 5K fun run and walk held on Thanksgiving morning in downtown Muskegon. The event has been a local tradition for over a decade and is presented as a family-friendly activity with an informal, festive atmosphere; participants are encouraged to wear costumes.
The course starts and finishes at Pigeon Hill Brewing Company and follows an out and back route on the Lakeshore Bike Trail. A water station is located at the 1.5 mile turnaround. Bathrooms are available inside Pigeon Hill; there are no bathroom facilities on the 5K course. Bib pickup occurs on race day morning at Pigeon Hill Brewing Company.
Organizers request a $10 donation per participant plus a food item from the Kids' Food Basket wish list. All collected food will be donated to Kids' Food Basket in Muskegon. The event also lists the Boys and Girls Club of Muskegon Lakeshore as a charity partner and notes that the club serves youth through programs grounded in integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect, and excellence; membership has reached 940 and the club serves over 80 youth each school day.
Parking for the event is available at The Mart Dock, nearby downtown locations, and the City of Muskegon parking lot east and across the street from Pigeon Hill. Pigeon Hill's own parking lot will be closed for the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
