The Out Side In 5k Turkey Trot takes place in downtown Grand Haven, Michigan. This annual event is a fundraiser organized by Out Side In, Inc., with proceeds supporting the Heroes for Horses program. This program assists veterans with PTSD through interactions with retired racehorses. The event offers options for participants of various ages and includes both in-person and virtual participation formats.

The course for the in-person event starts and finishes at the Grand Haven YMCA parking area. The route includes a section along Harbor Drive near the state park. Participants are advised to wear weather-appropriate clothing, as the course can become icy in conditions such as rain or snow.

Participants receive a horseshoe participation medal and a certificate for ice cream from Sweet Temptations. Those who register by the early bird deadline are guaranteed a t-shirt in their preferred size, while later registrants may receive shirts based on remaining availability. The virtual race option allows participants to complete the distance at any location and submit a photo of their route. Race packets for virtual runners can be picked up locally or shipped for an additional fee.

Registration is available for individual adults and children aged 12 and under. A group registration option is also offered where the purchase of four entries includes a fifth entry at no additional cost.
