Event Overview
The 22nd Annual Sergeant Nutter 5K Run is organized by the SGT Sam Nutter Organization Inc (SSNO). It is held in memory of the late SGT Samuel Nutter. The event is hosted by Class 69 of the New Jersey Army National Guard Officer Candidate School (NJOCS).
Location and Format
The 5K race takes place at the Army National Guard Training Center in Sea Girt, New Jersey. A virtual-only 5K run option is also available.
Purpose and Beneficiary
The event benefits the family of a New Jersey National Guard service member. For the 2026 edition, all proceeds, sponsorships, and donations will directly support the continued recovery of Specialist Gregory Mitchell, who was injured in a severe car accident in August 2025. The SSNO is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Awards
An awards ceremony concludes the event. Medals are awarded to the Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female overall winners, as well as the top three male and female finishers in each of nine age brackets: 12 and under, 13-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+.
