A Walk for Julie
A Walk for Julie is a non competitive memorial walk and 5K held in Seaside Park on the boardwalk. The route is a scenic down and back along the Seaside Boardwalk, running from the sawmill area to 14th Avenue and finishing in front of the Beachcomber Bar and Grill. The boardwalk will remain open to the public during the event.
The event is family friendly and open to all ages. There is no timing, no awards, and no competitive placements. After the walk, pizza and drinks are provided at the Beachcomber Bar and Grill, and the program includes a tricky tray raffle and a 50/50 drawing.
Registration is available in separate categories: adults 21 and older, youth ages 6 to 20, and a Little Walker option for ages 0 to 5. Fees differ by category and some registrations include an event T shirt, food, drink ticket, and a door prize ticket. Registration for most categories opens in early March and closes on May 4.
All proceeds support charitable causes, including the West Orange Firefighters Foundation and Wigs on Wheels. Wigs on Wheels provides wigs to patients during chemotherapy and supplies free wigs to children in Ocean County who are undergoing treatment.
