Event Overview
The Seneca7 is a team relay event entering its 14th in-person edition. The course consists of a 77.7-mile circumnavigation of Seneca Lake in New York. The route begins and ends at the Lakefront behind the Finger Lakes Welcome Center in Geneva. Participating teams run around the lake, passing through landscape features such as rushing inlets, waterfalls, and sun-bathed banks.
Team Details and Registration
The event is designed for teams of seven members. Registration is organized into several categories:
- Team Captains (Open Registration)
- Charity Team Captains
- Team Members
The registration process typically begins in October. Capacity is limited, and the event historically reaches its registration cap within minutes. Captains register the full relay team first, with individual team members joining the roster at a later date. Teams must provide an estimated mile pace during the registration process to assist with wave placement and course management.
Course Logistics
The race features 21 legs, with the final exchange at Watershed (Exchange #20). There are specific time cut-offs established at various points along the route, including Glenora (Exchange #7), Sampson North (Exchange #17), and the Watershed exchange. Packet pick-up is held on the day prior to the race at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center; there is no race-day packet pickup available. Teams are started in waves to manage the flow of runners around the lake. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
