The Seneca7
The Seneca7 is a seven-person relay circumnavigating Seneca Lake near Geneva, NY. The course covers approximately 77.7'ish miles and starts and finishes at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center in Lakefront Park in Geneva. The route runs counter-clockwise and passes vineyards, small towns, a waterfall in Hector, and state parks such as Sampson.
Teams must register as a seven-person relay with waivers submitted by the stated deadline. Each team uses one support vehicle that must fit in a standard parking space. Teams receive a slap bracelet to serve as the baton, BIB numbers to wear, and one chipped BIB that must be worn by the final leg runner. Teams must maintain the same running sequence for all rotations; if a runner cannot complete their legs, remaining members must cover the missing legs while keeping the original order.
The event requires teams to be self-supported for hydration and fueling, though public faucets and businesses are available along the route. Certain legs require a high-visibility safety vest, and all runners on course after 7pm must wear a vest. Some exchange points have specific timing windows and cutoffs; arriving outside those windows can result in holds, penalties, or course closure for a team.
Registration typically opens each October and often reaches capacity quickly. Live tracking and official results are provided for teams and spectators. Teams must carry a printed or downloaded course guide because cell reception is limited in places. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
