Event Overview

The Right to Run is a running event celebrating the passing of the 19th amendment, which gave women the right to vote. The event connects to the history of the women's suffrage movement in Seneca Falls, New York, the site of the first Women's Rights Convention in 1848.

Event Format and Distances

The event offers two formats:

  • In-person 5K: Takes place in Seneca Falls on a single day.
  • Virtual 5K and 19K: Participants can run from anywhere in the United States.

The virtual event period runs from May 9 to May 31, 2026. The 5K course in Seneca Falls is USATF-certified.

Event Details

The in-person 5K starts and finishes at the Home of the National Women's Hall of Fame on Canal Street in Seneca Falls. The course goes through the town, passing historical landmarks. The event is open to runners and walkers, with the course closing one hour after the start, accommodating a pace under 20 minutes per mile.

Participant Information

All finishers receive a medal. Participants who register by a specified deadline receive a limited-edition race t-shirt available in men's and women's fits. Packet pickup is available at the National Women's Hall of Fame on the day before and the morning of the in-person race.

Awards are given for the in-person 5K only, to the overall top three male and female finishers and the top three in various age groups. The awards ceremony is held on race day, and awards cannot be mailed.

Parking is available at several locations within a mile of the start/finish line, including the Seneca Falls Community Center and various street parking options.
