6th Annual Semper Fi Strides
The Semper Fi Strides event takes place in the West Village Town Square in Scott, Louisiana. This athletic gathering is organized to benefit the Marine Corps League Acadiana Detachment 488, showing support for Marines and all military veterans. Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 1 mile walk/run
- 3.2 miles (5K) run/walk
The course leads runners and walkers through the West Village area. Before the start of the 5K event, there is a formal presentation of the Colors. Following the completion of the routes, participants can access food and a photo booth for commemorative pictures.
Registration includes a commemorative t-shirt and a finisher medal for all participants. Awards are presented to the overall male and female winners, as well as the top three finishers in various age categories. These age groups range from 1-14, 15-19, and then follow ten-year increments from 20-29 up to 70 and over.
Packets are available for collection on the day before the event at a local running store in Lafayette or at the registration tent on the morning of the races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
