Camellia Crossing: Acadiana’s Gleaux Run
Camellia Crossing is a nighttime Thanksgiving Eve event that raises funds for Miles Perret Cancer Services. The event takes place along Camellia Boulevard and includes a family-friendly atmosphere with illuminated "gleaux" gear provided by the organizers. The 2026 edition is noted as the 23rd annual event and the organizer expects over 4,500 participants.
Distances
- 1-mile walk
- 5K run
The start line is organized into six waves based on estimated finish time; wave assignments are printed on bibs. Competitive participants are typically placed in waves 1 or 2, while walkers and stroller participants are typically placed in waves 5 or 6. Organizers encourage creative use of the provided gleaux gear.
A post-run celebration is held in River Ranch Town Square with live music, food, and drinks. Each race participant receives a food and drink wristband with registration; additional wristbands are available for purchase on the day of the event for $7 while supplies last. Food options listed by the organizer include jambalaya and red beans and rice. Drink options include water, soft drinks, Powerade, coffee or hot chocolate, lemonade and sweet tea; beer is available for a donation.
Volunteers support setup, course assistance, and event operations and are an integral part of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
