Camellia Crossing
Camellia Crossing, Acadiana’s Gleaux Run, is a nighttime community running event held on Thanksgiving Eve. The 23rd annual Camellia Crossing takes place on November 25th along Camellia Boulevard and concludes with a post-run party in River Ranch Town Square.
The event features these distances:
- 1-mile walk
- 5K run
Organizers provide gleaux gear and encourage creative glowing attire. Start waves are used to manage the field: participants are placed into one of eight waves based on estimated finish time, with competitive runners typically in waves 1 and 2 and walkers or stroller users typically in waves 7 and 8. Wave assignments are printed on bibs.
After the run, the River Ranch Town Square hosts a celebration with live music, food, and drinks. Each race participant receives a food and drink wristband for party access; additional wristbands may be purchased on the day of the event for $7 while supplies last. Food vendors listed include Rene Prejean Catering (jambalaya) and 3 Wize Monkees (red beans and rice). Drink vendors include Kentwood, Lafayette Coca-Cola Company, Mello Joy, and Raising Cane’s; beer is available from Schilling Distributors for a donation.
Camellia Crossing is a major fundraiser for Miles Perret Cancer Services and supports local families affected by cancer. The event relies on volunteers for setup and route support and typically draws thousands of participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
