About the race
Scoogië's New Year's Eve Glow Run is an evening family event held at Gwynedd Mercy University in Gwynedd Valley, PA. The event offers three distances that run in and around the GMU campus, with the course lit for a glow-themed finish.
Participants may choose from these distances:
- 5k
- 2 Mile Jog/Walk
- Kid's Ball Drop Dash (1/4 mile)
The event includes a glowing finish line arch, a large 3" glow-in-the-dark finisher medal for every finisher, and a costume contest held after the runs. Multiple ball drops are used to start the different distances, and a stadium area at the university serves as the start/finish and after-run celebration location. Glow items and themed outfits are encouraged; additional glow items are available as add-ons during registration.
Packet pick-up is scheduled the day before the event at North Wales Running Company in North Wales, PA. All three distances are not timed. The event benefits Gwynedd Mercy University; the organizer specifies that donations generated by the event will go directly to the university.
The organizer notes there is no mailing of awards or hoodies, and items will not be mailed. The event is planned to proceed rain or shine, and the organizer reserves the right to revise or cancel the event for emergency or weather reasons.
