Two-Day Mountain Navigation
The Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon is an annual two-day navigation competition held in the Lake District. The event is designed for teams of two runners who navigate through mountain terrain. Participants are required to stay at an overnight camp between the two days of competition.
Technical Details and Safety
The competition offers seven different courses that vary in length and technical difficulty. Competitors must be proficient in using a map and compass, as many checkpoints require accurate navigation. Teams are required to carry lightweight camping and safety equipment as specified in the event rules. The environment in the Lake District can present adverse weather conditions even during the summer months.

Registration and Participation
The event is open to participants aged 14 or older. There is a total limit of 575 teams across all courses. Registration is managed through an online system, and both team members must be registered to complete an entry.
