Thornthwaite Round
The Thornthwaite Round on 19 September 2026 is a measured route of 15.6 km with approximately 870 m of ascent. The course follows forest tracks and paths that are flagged, and it also crosses open fell terrain. The route includes checkpoints at Lord’s Seat, Broom Fell, Brown How, Whinlatter and Seat How.
Forest sections are marked and must be followed; other users may also be present on these paths. Limited parking is available, with alternatives including car sharing, cycling, or using the X5 bus from Cockermouth or Keswick which stops about 200 m from the start location.
Entries are managed through an online system. Entry opens 20 April 2026 and closes 16 September 2026. The minimum age for entry is 18 or older. Standard entry fee is £12, with an entry-on-the-day fee of £15. The entry fee includes tea and homemade cake.
