The Thornthwaite Round

Website

The Thornthwaite Round is a 15.6 km fell-running event near Keswick in the Lake District, starting and finishing at Thornthwaite/St Mary’s Church. The course climbs about 870 m over forest tracks, paths and open fell, visiting checkpoints at Lord’s Seat, Broom Fell, Brown How, Whinlatter and Seat How. Forest sections are flagged and must be followed, with other route users in the area.

It is a friendly yet competitive race that raises funds for Thornthwaite Church restoration and suits both fell runners and experienced trail runners. There is a full kit check at the start (FRA gear required); entry includes tea and cake, with limited parking and bus options available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Always double-check with the organizer's website – things can change, and we might have sprinted past a few details!
