The Thornthwaite Round

The Thornthwaite Round takes place at Thornthwaite, near Keswick, on 19 September 2026 and raises funds for the restoration of Thornthwaite Church. The course covers 15.6 km with 870 m of ascent over flagged forest tracks and paths and open fell, passing the checkpoints of Lord’s Seat, Broom Fell, Brown How, Whinlatter and Seat How.

The route through the forest is marked and must be followed; participants should be aware that other users may also be on the route. Entry is restricted to those aged 18 or older. Entries are managed via SiEntries with opening on 20 April 2026 and closing on 16 September 2026. The standard entry fee is £12 and entry on the day is £15. The entry fee includes tea and homemade cake.

Parking at the event is limited. Organisers advise car sharing, cycling or using the X5 bus from Cockermouth or Keswick, which stops about 200 m from the start.
