The Thornthwaite Round
The Thornthwaite Round takes place on 19 September 2026 at Thornthwaite Church near Keswick. The route is 15.6 km with 870 m of ascent, using forest tracks and paths as well as open fell. It passes the checkpoints of Lord's Seat, Broom Fell, Brown How, Whinlatter and Seat How.
The section through the forest is marked and must be followed. Other users may be present on the route, as it uses public forest tracks and paths.
Entry is limited to those aged 18 or older. The stated entry fee is £12, with an on-the-day fee of £15. The fee includes tea and homemade cake. Limited parking is available; car sharing, cycling or the X5 bus, which stops about 200 m from the start, are mentioned as alternatives.
