The Thornthwaite Round
The Thornthwaite Round is a fell and forest route held at Thornthwaite, near Keswick. The course covers 15.6 km / 870 m and combines flagged forest tracks and paths with open fell terrain. Checkpoints are located on Lord’s Seat, Broom Fell, Brown How, Whinlatter and Seat How.
The route through the forest is marked and must be followed. Participants should be aware that other users may also be on the forest tracks and paths. The event raises funds for the restoration of Thornthwaite Church.
Entries are open from 20 April 2026 until 16 September 2026. The minimum age for participants is 18 years. The standard entry fee is £12 with an on-the-day fee of £15. Entry includes tea and homemade cake.
Parking at the venue is limited; alternatives include car sharing, cycling or using the X5 bus, which stops about 200 m from the start. Further event terms, cancellation policy and entry procedures are provided by the organiser. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
