Terrain includes steep rocky climbs and technical descents. The Short route has no outpost. The Half Marathon, Marathon and Ultra routes have outposts at specified points; outposts offer fruit, cake, crisps, gels and electrolyte drink but not pre-filled cups. Participants should carry a reusable cup or bottle.

Mandatory kit lists vary by route and include waterproofs, minimum food and water, a mobile phone and safety items such as a foil blanket; headtorch and spare batteries are required for the longest routes.
The event donates £1 from every entry to Fix the Fells. Facilities include free parking, course marking, timing, photography, bag drop and a metal finisher medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
