London Marathon Long Training Run - Day 3
This event is part of a series designed to support runners during their long-distance training preparation. Held in Staines-upon-Thames, the run follows a course along the River Thames, consisting primarily of tarmac and well-made paths with a very short grass section. The route is fully signed, and road shoes are suitable for the terrain.
Participants have a seven-hour window to complete their chosen distance. While the event is flexible to accommodate various training plans, suggested targets for this specific day include:
- 16 miles (approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes)
- Any distance from 3 km to Ultra
An aid station is located at the start and finish of each lap, providing water, sports drinks, and a selection of sweet and savoury snacks, including vegan options. Runners can use this facility every 4.37 miles, removing the need to carry personal water supplies.
All finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a medal and a goody bag. Specific distance pins are awarded for achievements of a Half-Marathon, Marathon, 50 km, or Ultra distance. The venue at The Last Hop provides toilets and changing facilities, and a non-secure bag drop is available. Parking is located nearby at the Bridge Street Car Park.
