Event Overview
The St David's Day Dragon Run 2027 is a running event taking place at Dare Valley Country Park in Wales. It is scheduled for February 28th, celebrating Welsh heritage around St David's Day (March 1st).
Course & Distances
The event is a 7-hour time challenge where participants choose their own distance. The course consists of laps around Dare Valley Country Park on well-maintained footpaths. Each full lap is approximately 4.37 miles (7km), though this is subject to change to a 3.28-mile loop. A shorter 3km turn point is available within the lap.
Participants can run as many laps as they wish, with a minimum distance of 3km to be considered a finisher. The lap structure provides standard distance benchmarks: 3 laps for a half marathon, 6 laps for a marathon, and 7 or more laps for an ultra marathon. A specific 50km distance is also available.
Amenities & Facilities
All finishers receive a medal. Distance pins for a half marathon or greater are also awarded. A goody bag is provided for all finishers, with a vegan option available. An aid station at the start/finish area offers a selection of savory and sweet food, fruit, cheese, and vegan items, along with drinks.
Venue facilities include toilets and free parking. A cafe serving hot drinks and food is located near the race headquarters. There is a bag drop area, though it is not secure. Final instructions and bib pickup occur on the day of the event.
Participation Rules
Bone-conduction headphones are the only type permitted. The event takes place on public footpaths, and runners are asked to be considerate of other path users. UK Athletics age restrictions apply to the various distance categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
