Margam Park Duathlon
The Margam Park Duathlon is the inaugural event hosted by Gwydra Events, held within the historic grounds of Margam Country Park in Port Talbot. The course features a combination of trail running segments and rolling road bike sections set against a backdrop of woodland, parkland, and views of Margam Castle.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- Super Sprint: A 2.5 km run, followed by a 10 km bike ride, finishing with a 2.5 km run.
- Sprint: A 5 km run, followed by a 20 km bike ride, finishing with a 2.5 km run.
- Standard: A 10 km run, followed by a 40 km bike ride, finishing with a 5 km run.
The running routes utilize tarmac paths and firm gravel trails that pass the Ornamental Lake and the castle terrace. The cycling portion takes place on surrounding roads, including Harbour Way and the A48, featuring rolling terrain with short rises.
Race headquarters, the transition area, and athlete parking are located at the East Lodge Car Park. The event provides chip timing, a finisher's medal, and an event t-shirt for all competitors. On-site facilities include a secure baggage marquee and portable toilets near the transition area. Water stations are positioned along the running course and at the finish line.
The minimum age for participation is 15 years for the Super Sprint and Sprint distances, and 17 years for the Standard distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
