Margam Park Duathlon
The Margam Park Duathlon takes place within Margam Country Park and uses parkland, woodland and estate roads around Margam Castle and the Ornamental Lake. The run course heads north past the lake, climbs toward the castle terrace, then descends toward the deer park and returns along firm gravel paths and lower park road toward East Lodge. The final kilometre is mostly downhill through open fields and lakeside views before the finish or transition area.
The bike courses use public A-roads and park approach roads with several short, punchy climbs and longer flat sections for sustained effort. Riders should expect rolling terrain, exposed sections with possible crosswinds, and a mix of fast flowing stretches and brief rises near Cornelly and the A48/Margam links.
Two distances are offered:
- Sprint - 5 km run, 20 km bike, 2.5 km run
- Standard - 10 km run, 40 km bike, 5 km run
Race HQ, the transition area and athlete parking are at East Lodge Car Park. Included on event day are chip timing, a finisher medal, Rackd finisher socks, parking and prizes. A secure bag drop marquee and portaloo toilets will be available. Water is provided on each 5 km lap and a bottle awaits at the finish. Minimum ages: Sprint 15 years, Standard 17 years.
