Phoenix Running South Wales holds the Cakeathon on Sunday 29 March 2026 at Rock UK Summit Centre, The Old Drift Mine, Trelewis, Merthyr Tydfil (Parc Taf Bargoed). The event is a timed, multi-lap format on a 5.3 km (3.28 mile) out-and-back loop. Participants may complete as many or as few laps as they wish within a maximum event time of seven hours. Minimum distance is one lap (3.28 miles). Welsh Athletics race license has been applied for.

The course is multi-terrain: the majority is on tarmac paths with about 0.5 miles on riverside trail. The overall course has an elevation gain of 37 m.
Entry options include an affiliated fee of £33.00 and an unaffiliated fee of £35.00. A no-medal entry option is being trialled from £20, which provides event support and digital results but not a physical medal. All participants receive a finisher memento in the standard entry.
