San Domenico 20/10 Miler
San Domenico RC stages a road and trail event on 7 March 2027 with two distance options starting and finishing at Merthyr Leisure Village in Merthyr Tydfil. The course is an out-and-back along the Taff Trail, mostly traffic free and shared with walkers and cyclists.
Distances
- 10 mile one lap of the out-and-back route
- 20 mile two laps of the same route
The route is mainly off road with a few road crossings and undulating sections. Headphones are not permitted so runners can hear marshals at crossings. The 20 mile race has a race time limit of 4 hours 30 minutes and a course closure at the 10 mile point at 2 hours 15 minutes. A leader bike and a tail runner will be used.
Race services include chip timing, a running number and timing chip collected on the day, water stations along the route, and a race memento. There are nine water stations for the 20 mile and four for the 10 mile. The course is fully marshalled and a Welsh Athletics licence has been applied for.
Entry fees listed for 2027 are: 10 mile £18 affiliated £20 unaffiliated; 20 mile £30 affiliated £32 unaffiliated. Entry limits are 150 for the 10 mile and 250 for the 20 mile. Venue facilities include toilets, on-site parking and refreshments in the leisure village. Entries may be available on the day but availability is not guaranteed.
