The Merthyr Half Marathon
The event is a half marathon held in Merthyr Tydfil that follows an undulating course around the town and the surrounding countryside. The route uses sections of the Trevithick Trail and the Taff Trail and is predominately on road or tarmac with a short trail section. The race starts and finishes at Merthyr College, where baggage drop and toilet facilities are provided.
Entry periods and fees are scheduled as follows. Entries open on 2 April 2026 and close on 7 March 2027. Early bird pricing applies until 30 September 2026, then standard pricing applies from 1 October 2026. Half marathon fees differ for UKA affiliated and non-affiliated runners. There is a cut off time of four hours. All finishers receive a medal, a t-shirt and a goody bag. Race packs are not posted via Royal Mail and can be collected either on race day or the day before.
The event is organised and run by Merthyr Running Club. An option to purchase event cover insurance is available so entrants may be able to claim a refund for unforeseen circumstances.
