The Merthyr Half Marathon
The Merthyr Half Marathon is an organised road race that starts and finishes at Merthyr College in Merthyr Tydfil and follows an undulating course around the town and surrounding countryside. The route makes use of the Trevithick Trail and the Taff Trail and is predominately on road or tarmac with a small trail section.
Facilities at Merthyr College include a baggage drop and toilet facilities. Race packs are not posted; they can be collected either on the day of the event or the day before. There is a four hour cut off time for the half marathon. The event is organised and run by Merthyr Running Club.
Race options and entry details:
- Half Marathon on the main course.
- Mini Fun Run for 4 to 7 year olds, must be accompanied by an adult.
- Junior Fun Run for 8 to 16 year olds.
Entries open on 2 April 2026 and close on 28 March 2027. Half marathon entry fees: early bird until 30/09/26 UKA affiliated £38, non affiliated £40; standard from 01/10/26 UKA affiliated £41, non affiliated £43. Mini Fun Run £6, Junior Fun Run £8. All entrants receive a finisher medal, t shirt and goody bag. An optional XCover purchase is offered for possible refunds for unforeseen circumstances.
