The Merthyr Half Marathon

The event is a half marathon that follows an undulating course around Merthyr Tydfil and the surrounding countryside. The race starts and finishes at Merthyr College and uses sections of the Trevithick Trail and the Taff Trail. The route is predominately on road and tarmac with a small trail section. Merthyr College provides a baggage drop and toilet facilities.

The event is organised and run by Merthyr Running Club. There is a four hour cut off time for the half marathon. All entrants receive a finishers medal, a t-shirt and a goody bag. Race packs are not posted by Royal Mail and must be collected either on race day or the day before.

Entries open on 2 April 2026 and close on 28 March 2027. Early bird fees apply until 30 September 2026 and standard fees apply thereafter. Fee tiers listed are UKA affiliated and non affiliated. Additional runs on the day include a Mini Fun Run and a Junior Fun Run with separate entry fees.
