The Merthyr Half Marathon
The Merthyr Half Marathon follows an undulating course around Merthyr Tydfil and the surrounding countryside. The route uses the Trevithick Trail and the Taff Trail and is predominately on road and tarmac with a short trail section.
The race starts and finishes at Merthyr College, where baggage drop and toilet facilities are provided. There is a cut off time of four hours. All half marathon entrants receive a finishers medal, a t-shirt and a goody bag. Race packs are not posted and can be collected on the day of the event or the day before.
Also on the same day there are shorter runs for younger participants:
- Half Marathon
- Mini Fun Run for 4 to 7 year olds (adult required)
- Junior Fun Run for 8 to 16 year olds
Entries open on 2 April 2026 and close on 28 March 2027. Early bird half marathon entry fees apply until 30 September 2026 (UKA affiliated and non-affiliated rates listed by the organiser); standard rates apply from 1 October 2026. Mini and Junior Fun Run entry fees are listed separately. The event is organised and run by Merthyr Running Club. An optional participant protection product (XCover) is offered for possible refunds in unforeseen circumstances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
