The Merthyr Half Marathon
The Merthyr Half Marathon takes place in Merthyr Tydfil on 4 April 2027. The race follows an undulating course around Merthyr Tydfil and the surrounding countryside and starts and finishes at Merthyr College. Merthyr College provides a baggage drop and toilet facilities.
Organised by Merthyr Running Club, the course uses the Trevithick Trail and the Taff Trail. The route is predominantly on road and tarmac with a small trail section. The event has a cut off time of four hours. All half marathon entrants receive a finisher's medal, a t-shirt and a goody bag. Race packs are not posted by Royal Mail and can be collected on the day or the day before the event.
Entries open on 2 April 2026 and close on 28 March 2027. Entry fees for the half marathon are listed as follows: early bird until 30/09/26, UKA affiliated £38 and non-affiliated £40; standard entry from 01/10/26, UKA affiliated £41 and non-affiliated £43. Fees for additional runs are Mini Fun Run £6 and Junior Fun Run £8. The event offers an optional XCover policy that may allow a refund in certain circumstances and has a published cancellation and refund policy.
