The Merthyr Half Marathon
The Merthyr Half Marathon is a road running event on Sunday, 22 March 2026. The main event is a half marathon race.
The race starts and finishes at Merthyr College in Merthyr Tydfil. The course is described as undulating and goes around Merthyr Tydfil and the surrounding countryside. It is predominately run on road or tarmac, with a small trail section. The route utilises the Trevithick trail and the Taff Trail.
There is a cut-off time of 4 hours for the half marathon. A baggage drop and toilet facilities are available at the start/finish area at Merthyr College. All half marathon entrants will receive a finisher's medal, a t-shirt, and a goody bag. Race packs are not mailed out; they must be collected on race day or the day before.
Two shorter events are also held on the same day:
- A Mini Fun Run for children aged 4-7, which requires adult accompaniment.
- A Junior Fun Run for children aged 8-16.
The event is organised by Merthyr Running Club. Online entries are open until Sunday, 15 March 2026. Entry fees for the half marathon vary based on affiliation status and an early bird period. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
