The Merthyr Half Marathon
The Merthyr Half Marathon is set in Merthyr Tydfil and the surrounding countryside. The course is undulating and uses sections of the Trevithick Trail and the Taff Trail. The route is predominately on road and tarmac with a small trail section. The race starts and finishes at Merthyr College, where baggage drop and toilet facilities are provided.
The event is organised and run by Merthyr Running Club. There is a four hour cut off time for the half marathon. All entrants receive a finishers medal, a t-shirt and a goody bag. Race packs are not posted via Royal Mail; they can be collected on the day of the event or the day before.
Entries open on 2 April 2026 and close on 28 March 2027. Entry fees include early bird and standard tiers for the half marathon, and separate fees for the junior events. The event offers an option to purchase XCover to allow participants to seek a refund for unforeseen circumstances. Terms, cancellation and refund policies apply.
