Event Information
The Merthyr Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 22nd March 2026. The start and finish location is Merthyr College in Merthyr Tydfil. The half marathon race begins at 10:00.
Course Details
The race follows an undulating course that goes around Merthyr Tydfil and the surrounding countryside. The route uses the Trevithick Trail and the Taff Trail, and is run mostly on road or tarmac with a small trail section. The event has a cut-off time of 4 hours.
Entry Fees
Entry fees for the half marathon are tiered:
- Early bird entry (until 30th September 2025): £37 for UKA-affiliated runners, £39 for non-affiliated runners.
- Standard entry (from 1st October 2025): £40 for UKA-affiliated runners, £42 for non-affiliated runners. Entries open on 18th March 2025 and close on 15th March 2026.
Two shorter events are also held on the same day:
- A Mini Fun Run for 4-7 year olds (must be accompanied by an adult), starting at 9:00. Entry costs £6.
- A Junior Fun Run for 8-16 year olds, starting at 9:15. Entry costs £8. Both fun runs award a finisher's medal.
Facilities and Perks
At the start/finish area at Merthyr College, there will be a baggage drop and toilet facilities. All entrants in the half marathon will receive a finisher's medal, a t-shirt, and a goody bag. Race packs are not sent by post; they can be collected on race day or the day before.
