About the race
The Sarnia Sole Burner is a running event held at Suncor Park and the Wawanosh Wetlands in Sarnia, Ontario. The course features a fully paved loop of approximately 2.35 km. The first half of the loop includes minor elevation changes, reaching about 20 meters of gain per lap.
The event offers three distinct race formats:
- A 5 km (approximate) run consisting of two loops.
- A 3-hour endurance burn.
- A 6-hour endurance burn.
For the timed events, the goal is to complete as many loops as possible within the designated timeframe. Runners in the 6-hour event are permitted one drop bag, and pacers are allowed during the final hour of the competition. A fully stocked aid station with water and snacks is available at the start and finish line.
The event operates as a fundraiser, with 100% of proceeds donated to a rotating yearly charity; Heaven's Wildlife Rescue is the selected beneficiary for this edition. All registered participants receive a technical t-shirt, and 5 km finishers receive a medal. Parking near the venue is limited, and participants are encouraged to use nearby lots at St Pats or St Anne before walking to the start line.
