Pet Rescue Run/Walk
The Pet Rescue Run is an annual fundraising event held at Columbus Park in Columbus, Michigan. This event honors the legacy of JoAnne Aebi and supports the J & J Furry Friend Foundation, a 501c(3) organization. The proceeds are directed toward providing supplies and financial assistance to various animal rescues located throughout Michigan.
Participants can choose from several physical and virtual event formats:
- 5K RUN/WALK: An officially timed 3.1 miles trail race on grass and dirt paths.
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk: A non-timed 1 mile route with minimal elevation changes.
- VIRTUAL 5K: A 3.1 miles option for those unable to attend the venue in person.
The 5K course features natural terrain including rocks, roots, and potential muddy conditions, with an elevation incline and decline of approximately 55 feet. The event takes place regardless of rain or sunshine. Participants may register as individuals or as part of a team.
The venue welcomes friendly dogs and allows the use of jogging or running strollers at the owner's discretion. All finishers receive a medal, and participants who register by April 15, 2026, are guaranteed an event t-shirt. Post-race amenities include water, snacks, and cupcakes.
Awards are presented to the first and second place male and female finishers, alongside age category prizes for the 5K. Additionally, the top fundraising team captain receives a commemorative mug. Attendees can enter a prize drawing for gift cards by donating items such as pet food, treats, toys, bleach, paper towels, or pet beds.
