Salt Creek 24 : overview
Salt Creek 24 is a 24-hour running event held October 25-26, 2025 at Salt Creek Recreation Area in Port Angeles, Washington. The event offers three main options: a 24-hour individual or relay format, a Last Runner Standing event, and a pacer bib option. Distances include:
- 1.3-mile loop used for the 24-hour race
- about 3.7-mile out-and-back route for the Last Runner Standing
The course passes coastal viewpoints and forested sections, with views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, evergreens, moss, ferns, and a World War II bunker. Fundraising is optional during registration; participants can collect pledges per lap or per summit for charity partners or a charity of their choice.
Course, facilities and key rules
The 24-hour loop uses a mix of paved and unpaved surfaces and includes roughly 100 feet of elevation change per lap. The Last Runner Standing event sends racers up a summit with about 1,000 feet of elevation gain per repetition. Electronic timing is used; solo runners and relay teams are issued timing chips, and relay teams must hand off the shared chip at exchanges. A buckle is awarded to any individual who completes 100 miles inside the 24-hour cutoff.
Race central includes an enclosed picnic pavilion with a fireplace, flush and portable toilets, and access to coin-operated showers. A fully stocked aid station operates through the event. Required items include a headlamp or flashlight for dark hours and reusable dishware to reduce waste. Rules note no pets on course, headphones discouraged, and that the park gate is locked overnight. The refund policy states no standard refunds, transfers allowed until three days before the event, and an 80% refund or free transfer if the race is canceled.
