Saints Way Ricochet
The Saints Way Ricochet is an overnight supported trail event that follows the way marked Saints Way across Cornwall. Registration takes place in Fowey on the Friday evening before the main run. The route leads north across the county, passing Golant, Helman Tor and the St Breock Downs, with a turnaround and halfway service at Padstow Social Club where runners can access hot soup, bread, snacks and toilets.
The event is a self-navigation exercise with on-route support. There are seven manned checkpoints offering fluids and sustenance. All competitors are issued a GPS tracker and the event is timed; runners must check in at the start, at each checkpoint and at the finish. The overall cut off for the Ricochet is 17.5 hours and additional checkpoint cut offs will apply.
A mandatory kit list is enforced and a kit check is carried out prior to the start. Required items include a GPS tracker, head torch with spare batteries, whistle, compass or app, high visibility clothing, lightweight waterproof, warm spare layers, long trousers, hat, first aid items, a minimum of one litre of fluid, charged mobile phone and charger, a paper with next of kin contact, cash, a bivvy or survival bag and a collapsible cup. Bag drop is available at registration. Minimum age for entry is 18 years. Finishers receive a Saints Way Ricochet medal and awards are given to top finishers. A GPX file can be supplied on request.
