About the Devon and Cornwall Backyard Ultra

This event follows the backyard ultra format. Participants run 4.167 miles every hour on the hour, aiming to complete as many laps as possible. Each lap must be finished within 60 minutes. The remaining time before the next hour is for recovery. The event continues until only one runner remains; that runner is the winner.

Event Details

The event takes place over the weekend of Saturday, August 29 to Sunday, August 30, 2026. Entry is limited to participants aged 18 or older. Camping is included with entry and is available from Friday, August 29 until Sunday, August 31 (or until the event finishes). On-site amenities include an accessible toilet with sanitary bins described as stoma-friendly. A free hair-plaiting service is offered, with donations to the charity encouraged.

Charity

The event is organized by Bowel Cancer West. All money raised from entries goes directly to supporting those living with bowel cancer and funding research and training.
