Runtastic FRIGID 5K and Penguin Plunge
The event takes place on January 23, 2027 at Utah Lake State Park, 4400 W Center St, Provo, UT. It combines a timed running event with a cold water Penguin Plunge hosted at the state park.
Event options include:
- 5K - professionally timed 5-kilometer race on the Provo Delta River Trailhead.
- Penguin Plunge - a cold water plunge into Utah Lake.
- 5K & Plunge - participation in both activities.
The 5K course runs along the Provo Delta River Trailhead and offers views of Utah Lake and the surrounding mountains. Parking is provided at the Provo Boat Harbor. The race will be professionally timed with timing chips attached to the back of bibs; the first three overall male and female places are determined by gun time and other awards by chip time.
Packet pick-up is scheduled the day before the event at the park building and on race day no later than a specified morning cutoff. Photo ID is required to collect a packet; someone else’s packet may be picked up with a copy of that person’s photo ID. A portion of registration fees will be donated to the Wolfpack Running Club.
On-site amenities include an aid station with water, Redmond Re-Lyte, a first aid kit, event photographers, post-race food and drinks, and participant swag such as a beanie and gloves. 5K finishers receive a finisher medal and Penguin Plunge participants receive a penguin keychain and sticker.
