Runtastic Frigid
The Runtastic Frigid is an annual winter event held in Provo, Utah. This event takes place in January at Utah Lake and has been organized for over a decade. Participants have the option to take part in running and swimming activities focused on the cold climate of the region.
The event offers several individual and combined participation options:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 5K & Penguin Plunge (3.1 miles and a cold water swim)
- Penguin Plunge (cold water swim)
The Penguin Plunge involves jumping into the icy waters of Utah Lake. To ensure safety, a square of ice is removed and a safety cage is inserted into the water. This structure is designed to prevent participants from floating underneath the ice or sinking. First aid booths are stationed at the event site to assist those participating in both the run and the plunge. Supporters are permitted to observe the water activities from the shore. The race headquarters is located at 4400 W Center St in Provo. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
