Event overview
Running Up For Air - Moab takes place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Moab Rim Trailhead on Kane Creek Blvd in Moab, UT. The event offers timed looped events where participants complete as many laps as possible in set durations: 12 hour, 6 hour, two separate 3 hour races, and a 3 hour relay. The event is part of the Up For Air Series, which donates event proceeds to nonprofit groups.
Course and logistics
The looped course starts at the Moab Rim Trailhead and uses the Stairmaster Trail uphill and the Moab Rim Trail downhill. Stairmaster is a rocky singletrack that gains 890 feet in 0.95 miles. The downhill Moab Rim Trail is a 4WD slickrock track of the same distance. The course is open to other trail users and entrants do not have the right-of-way. The aid station is at the Start/Finish at the bottom and is passed approximately every 2 miles. Water, sports drink, and basic food are provided; special food may be left at the aid station. There is no cell reception at the base and better reception at the turnaround on top.
Rules, sustainability, and charity
The event follows a minimal-footprint philosophy and is cup-free. There is no parking at the event site or along Kane Creek Blvd; a free shuttle departs from Helen M Knight Elementary School, or participants may bike or run about 2 miles from town. No pets are allowed. Fifty percent of event proceeds go to the Running Up For Air organization and fifty percent to the Youth Garden Project; donors can allocate donations to selected charities.
