Running the Vines 10K at Shelton Vineyards

Event Overview

Running the Vines is a 5K and 10K running event held at Shelton Vineyards in Dobson, NC. The event includes a Kids 1/2 Mile Fun Run. It features views of the vineyard and neighboring farms.

What's Included

Participants receive a race t-shirt and a finisher's medal. Those aged 21 and over also receive a complimentary classic wine tasting in the Shelton Vineyards Tasting Room after the race. Race packets include sponsor items.

Schedule and Location

The main races are on a Saturday in May. An early packet pickup is available the day before at the venue. After the races, there is an afternoon with food, wine, hayrides, tours, tastings, and live music at the Shelton Vineyards Terrace.

Course Details

• 5K
• 10K Both races start and finish at Shelton Vineyards. The courses are not certified. Water stations are available. Strollers are allowed on the 5K course. Dogs are not permitted on the course but are allowed on the grounds while leashed.

Registration and Fees

Registration fees vary by distance and age:

• 5K adult fee: $35 early, $40 later.
• 10K adult fee: $40 early, $45 later.
• Kid's Fun Run fee: $15. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrations by a specific date in April. Packets are not mailed. Registration fees are not refundable.

Team Challenge

The event includes a 5K Team Challenge. Teams require a minimum of 5 members. The team score is calculated by the average time of the top 5 finishers. The winning team receives a trophy.

Awards

Top 3 overall male and female winners for each distance receive a special custom medal, a signed bottle of Shelton Vineyards wine, a custom engraved glass, and a prize package. Age division awards are also given.

Venue Access

All parking is at Shelton Vineyards. A nearby road is closed to vehicle traffic for a period on race morning. A hotel shuttle operates for its guests only. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
