Blue Ridge Running Retreat

The Blue Ridge Running Retreat is a three-day mountain getaway hosted by 12th State Endurance in Roaring Gap, North Carolina. The event focuses on trail exploration and training in the Blue Ridge Mountains, providing guided running experiences through varied terrain. Participants stay in lodge accommodations that feature mountain views, a game room, and comfortable communal living spaces.

The retreat includes three daily guided trail sessions:

  • Day 1: Approximately 10 miles on remote forest trails near the Blue Ridge Parkway with stream crossings.
  • Day 2: Approximately 8 miles on historic and scenic trails, ending at a local swimming hole.
  • Day 3: Approximately 7 miles on signature mountain routes with options for additional mileage.

The organization provides logistics and support throughout the weekend. Transportation between the lodge and the trailheads is included for all participants. The retreat includes pre-run breakfast options, snacks, and a lunch prepared daily by an on-site chef. During meal times, coaches lead presentations on topics such as training strategies, racing tips, and nutrition.

The lodge offers various room types including king suites with private bathrooms, queen lofts, and bunk-style rooms. While the first night's dinner is provided, subsequent evening meals are not included, allowing time to visit local restaurants or wineries. The retreat is designed for individuals comfortable running up to 10 miles on mountain trails. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
