Run Your Socks off 5K + a little extra
The Down Syndrome Association of SWLA organizes a community walk/run held on World Down Syndrome Day. The in-person course is a 3.21-mile walk/run; the extra .11 mile represents three copies of the 21st chromosome. A virtual option is also offered.
The event starts and finishes at Crying Eagle Brewing Company, 1165 E. McNeese St., Lake Charles, LA 70607. Packet pick up is scheduled the day before at Southern Specialty Products, 615 E. Prien Lake Road. Electronic timing and scoring is provided by Race Pace Multisport, LLC; results are posted on the race registration site, near the finish, by email to participants who provide an address, and on the event Facebook page.
Race bibs are issued at packet pick up and must be worn on the front. Awards cover overall categories including overall male and female, overall male and female with Down syndrome, masters and grand masters age groups, and age-group winners from under 19 to 70+. T-shirt sizes are guaranteed for registrations completed by 11:59 pm on 02/23/26; race day registrants are not guaranteed shirts.
Registration fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred. Day-of registration increases to a higher fee. The event will be held rain or shine; the Race Director may delay or cancel if there is lightning or severe weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
