Run to the Beach
The Run to the Beach takes place on April 11, 2026 at Portage Lakes State Park in Akron, Ohio. The event includes a mix of road and trail running around the lakeshore and finishes on the sand at the beach area.

- 1-Mile Easter Egg Scramble
Courses loop around Portage Lakes State Park and are described as mostly flat and fast along the lakeshore. Both the 5K events and the 1-Mile start in the parking lot near the beach and use a combination of roads and trails before ending on the beach. Portage Lakes State Park includes more than 2,000 acres of lakes, camping sites and hiking trails.
Participant amenities and awards vary by event. All 5K runners and walkers receive a finisher medal and a technical t-shirt; 5K entrants also receive food and a goodie bag. The 1-Mile Easter Egg Scramble includes Easter eggs along the course that can be redeemed for prizes and participants receive a cotton shirt. The 5K and walk both include overall awards; the 5K adds age group awards. The competitive walk requires walking the entire course with no running or jogging.
The event benefits the Portage Lakes Advisory Council and accepts donations and sponsorships for that organization. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
