Publix Run to the Arts 5K
The Publix Run to the Arts is an annual event held at the Downtown Fort Myers Waterfront in conjunction with ArtFest Fort Myers. This 5 km event allows participants to run, walk, roll, or stroll along a scenic waterfront course. The event is open to participants aged 13 and older, and there is a course time limit of one hour and 15 minutes. Participants with strollers are welcome and are asked to start at the back of the field, while wheelchair racers start ahead of the runners on foot.
Registered participants receive an "Artsy T-shirt" made of high-performance quick-dry fabric, featuring artwork by an ArtFest Fort Myers artist. A post-race breakfast is provided for all participants, featuring fruit, yogurt, and muffins. The event also offers live music and early access to the artist booths at the festival before they open to the general public.
The race utilizes the Chronotrack Timing System with disposable chips for accurate results. Awards and medals are provided for several categories:
- 5 km (Overall, Masters, Grand Masters, Senior Masters, and various age groups from 15 & Under to 80+)
Water is available at the start and finish lines, though there are no water stations along the course itself. Free street parking is available throughout downtown on weekends, and paid parking garages are located nearby.
