Turkey Tag 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run
The event at Rotary Park in Cape Coral, Florida features a 5K run/walk and a 1-mile fun run/walk. The 5K is chip timed and both distances include a participant finisher medal and a limited-edition race T-shirt. Family activities and music are part of the event atmosphere. A central feature is the Turkey Tag Challenge. Two runners are selected as the "Turkeys" and start with a head start while wearing flag football belts. Other participants have one lap to try to remove a Turkey's single flag; removing a flag earns a prize. If a Turkey completes the lap without losing its flag, that runner keeps the recognition.
Awards include overall top three male and female finishers and top three male and female in each age group. Age categories run from 0–9 through 70+. Packet pick-up is scheduled with a pre-race session on the Friday before the event at a location to be determined and a day-of pick-up at Rotary Park.
Organizers listed are Apex Promoz and the Cape Coral Police Athletic League. Proceeds support PAL youth programs focused on mentorship and positive connections between local law enforcement and youth.
